Post-Sabbatical Reflections

Well hellooo!! It's SO lovely to be sitting here writing to you again, after a four year Sabbatical. The idea of a Sabbatical makes me picture a restful time spent on long journeys through misty woodlands, returning to my fireside chair to record my musings, while sipping a glass of Jack Daniel's Honey. Hmm... Nope. It's been five years this month since I started my full time role as Sales Administrator with Stamford Stone near the village of Helpston. So my Sabbatical has been out in the workplace, with a bunch of lovely people, and having a surprisingly good time. However, as time has passed I've wondered what any of this had to do with what I understand to be my calling, purpose and the work that I really love. That makes me feel teary.

About a year ago, a friend was going through a really difficult time and I asked her what I could do to help. To my surprise, she asked if I could do a Craniosacral Therapy session for her, as she'd hurt her back. So I had to quickly declutter the unused therapy room and make it all cosy again for her. I wondered if I would remember what to do! As soon as I started working with her, it all came flowing back as naturally as water in a stream. I'd forgotten how wonderful it was to see a person truly relax and begin to unwind some of the pain and tension that they'd been carrying. I'm most touched by the insights that come up, as the mind recalls the memories that are held, and then released. The underlying causes of the knots and misalignment in the body begin to dissolve. My friend's messages over the days that followed reminded my how incredibly effective such a gentle treatment can be.

A few weeks later, a former client contacted me to ask if I was working again. I was about to say no when I sensed the Holy Spirit nudge my heart to say yes - that maybe I could do this for just one more person. It became more than just one session. I saw again how incredibly powerful this work can be over a period of time. In discussions about her improvements, we would often comment on those who don't know about the real benefits of holistic therapy. People who start taking pharmaceutical products to suppress their symptoms, such as migraine, back pain, sore joints, poor digestion or difficulty sleeping, but never root out the underlying causes. Their underlying health can continue to deteriorate as they try desperately to find the help that they need from the overloaded NHS system.

For me, the treatment sessions left me feeling such peace and fulfillment afterwards. I've been having monthly Craniosacral Therapy for myself throughout the four years of my workplace Sabbatical, and it was great to be doing this for others again. My heart felt settled. I knew I had to do this work again, even if it was only within a very limited time frame. So I'm now back to offering appointments, on either a Monday or Tuesday evening at 6:30pm at £50 for a 1 hour session. It will be lovely to see you again. Corrina
