CORRINA KENNEDY - MY OWN JOURNEY
I came into kinesiology in 1991 from a materialistic and stressful lifestyle in sales. I was happy in my career, earning more money every year and enjoying a thriving social life. Then came the recession of '91. The pressure and downright bullying from management was taking its toll. I drank even more heavily than usual as a way to unwind. I was increasingly irritable with my friends and couldn't see how I could change my situation.

A friend was attending courses in kinesiology and wanted to practise on people. So I volunteered. She carried out a Touch for Health energy balance on me and the results were fantastic! I felt more relaxed than I could ever remember and I slept soundly that night for the first time in years. At the gym the next morning I was able to train beyond my previous best and still had enough energy to party 'til dawn the next day.

I wanted more of this. So I booked to see a qualified kinesiologist for a session of more advanced treatment. This helped me to see something of the underlying causes of my unhealthy lifestyle. More importantly, I was able to work out ways to change, over a period of time, and given the healing treatments I needed to carry out those changes.

I was fascinated by the muscle-testing and how accurately it pin-pointed my needs and found the root causes of my symptoms and problems. I decided to find out more by attending a kinesiology training class.

To my surprise, I discovered I had a natural sensitivity when it came to using the energy balancing techniques. I found it really rewarding to see the positive changes in each person’s wellbeing as I practised the energy balancing methods taught in each kinesiology training class.

I continued into advanced kinesiology training and realised I had found my vocation as a therapist. I later qualified as a craniosacral therapist and also studied psychotherapy for two years. Today I am training and mentoring new kinesiologists as they discover their own unique healing gifts.

PATHWAY BALANCING KINESIOLOGY
This system was instituted in 1996 and is being researched and developed on an ongoing basis. Through a series of manuals, Pathway Balancing Kinesiology uses metaphor and imagery to describe a visionary/imaginary journey along life's path, which is unique to each person. Using muscle-testing and a combination of treatments the client is empowered and energised to take the next steps forward on their unique life path. Treatments include reflex points, bodywork, plant remedies, nutrition, and verbal dialogue.

PATHWAY BALANCING CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY
Pathway Balancing began offering Craniosacral Therapy in 2006. This is a gentle bodywork treatment which assists the body's natural capacity to restore health and vitality by supporting the craniosacral system into a more fluid alignment. By making light contact with the body, problem areas can be identified and supported towards better health. In this way the therapist enables the client to improve well-being on all levels naturally and effectively.

When I began my kinesiology training in 1991, the courses were weekend workshops aimed at people using alternative therapies for their own interest. People came for sessions by word of mouth or perhaps by seeing a demonstration at a health fair. In time, a few people began practising on a part-time basis for a modest fee and sometimes advertised their services in specialist magazines. Only in the last few years have kinesiologists, and other holistic therapists, began practising as full time professionals, running a business from home or in a therapy centre.

The Pathway Balancing course offers both foundation and advanced training. Upon successful completion of the Foundation assessment, students can take up insurance and work with the public, offering an effective energy balancing treatment for a modest fee. This enables students to begin generating an income whilst building up experience of working with clients and establishing a successful healthcare practice.

As they continue the Advanced Training, candidates are encouraged to work on their own personal issues in order to clear anything that might be unconsciously sabotaging their efforts to develop their professional practice. Individual mentoring sessions are available, for an additional fee, if students need extra help.

Pathway Balancing is already preparing for future government legislation on training in complementary medicine. The course is being further developed as an Associated Training with the Institute for Complementary and Natural Medicines (ICNM) and is working towards Affiliated status. The training is designed to comply with the National Occupational Standards for Kinesiology (KNOS). Students can be confident that their cutting edge training meets the highest standards of national recognition and excellence.
